When Troy Brown booked his Torch Edition V2 Series vertical door installation for his black-on-carbon C8 Z06 in Rock Hill, South Carolina, we were ready for a smooth, high-energy day.
Instead, the morning turned into a full-blown rental-car soap opera.

A Rental Car Disaster to Start the Day
The plan was simple: grab the rental car, head to Troy’s place, and knock out another clean V2 install.
But National Car Rental had a different plan.
The rental they gave me looked fine from the outside, but when I got in… dead battery. Not weak. Not clicking. Fully dead.
After running every quick test possible, National ended up towing the car all the way back to Charlotte, NC. Meanwhile, I was stuck waiting for a replacement and already hours behind schedule.
They finally delivered another car — while I was in the middle of installing Troy’s kit.
Because of the delays, I missed my flight home and had to stay an extra night in North Carolina.
Not ideal.
But the final result? 100% worth it.

- The arm pressed into our sealed roller-ball bearing pivot
- The hidden geometry pitch engaged exactly at full height
- The Z06 doors lifted truly vertically, not diagonally
