Gas-charged shocks • ~75,000 duty cycles • Lifetime replacement
How Our Gas-Charged Shocks Work
Our V2 Series kits use precision-engineered gas-charged lift shocks.
These combine compressed nitrogen with hydraulic fluid in a sealed cylinder, pushing against a piston that thwarts
unwanted motion—providing smooth lift and maintaining that signature OEM-level operation.
This mirrors how gas springs are used in sophisticated applications, similar in principle to industrial gas spring designs.
Why Gas Shocks Wear Over Time
Even the best fluid and nitrogen systems lose effectiveness over time. Tiny wear on seals, gradual nitrogen leakage, and natural
fluid compression diminish performance. Shock seals are engineered to prevent this, but require advanced materials and design—
much like those used in high-performance systems developed by companies such as NAK and Parker for shock absorber endurance.
Tested Durability: ~75,000 Duty Cycles
Our shocks are rated for ~75,000 duty cycles—that’s one door open-and-close = one cycle! With average use:
- 5 cycles/day: ~41 years
- 10 cycles/day: ~20 years
- 20 cycles/day: ~10 years
This incredible lifespan is why we offer a Lifetime Shock Replacement.
Signs Your Shocks Might Need Replacement
- Door doesn’t stay open or lift feels weak
- Motion seems mushy or inconsistent
- Oil or residue visible around the shaft seal
If you notice these signs, visit our Warranty Claims page to begin the process.
Care & Best Practices
- Operate doors in a steady, fluid motion—avoid abrupt stops.
- Keep hinges clean from dust and debris.
- Check mounting bolts periodically and keep them torqued to spec.
- Upgraded doors with heavy audio or thicker panels? Let us adjust valving for optimal smoothness.

Why We’re Confident in Our Warranty
Most brands cap warranty coverage at 12 months. At Eikon, we offer lifetime support because our shocks are
proven, durable, and engineered to outlast typical wear.
How Gas-Charged Shocks Compare to Classic Designs
Traditional hydraulic shocks can suffer from fluid aeration, compromising performance.
Modern gas-charged designs mitigate this. For more context on this evolution in shock technology, see
this overview by Monroe on how gas-charged units improve ride quality and durability.
